Quality Talk Amplified Online (QTAO) is an AI-supported approach to facilitating small-group discussion in online postsecondary courses. Building on more than two decades of research on the Quality Talk framework, QTAO uses an AI facilitator, Cue-T, to support learners’ critical-analytic thinking and high-level comprehension during synchronous online discussions. QTAO also provides instructors with QT Briefs, high-level summaries of student discussions that support instructional decision-making and course refinement while keeping instructors central to the learning process. QTAO aims to provide more opportunities for online postsecondary students to engage in rich meaningful small-group discussions.
