JAX Biomedical Pathways is an open access online curriculum that delivers three integrated learning paths organized around the framework that defines modern biomedical research — in vivo (living organisms), in vitro (cells and tissues), and in silico (computational and AI) model systems. The innovative, inclusive curriculum co-created by JAX scientists and instructional designers, integrates authentic scientific practice with learner-centered pedagogy. Through partnerships with CT, ME, and NY community colleges and workforce organizations, the series of career-aligned pathways will provide accessible, interactive modular content and stackable credentials that help learners enter and excel in biotech careers.
Sarah Wojiski
Director of Education and External Programs
Sarah leads education and training programs for populations ranging from high school students through postdoctoral fellows. She has over sixteen years of experience in teaching, curriculum development and program administration in the sciences, with an emphasis on promoting effective teaching and learning practices and empowering future generations of the biomedical workforce. She is currently principal investigator of a National Institutes of Health funded project called “Genomics in Action”, a collaboration between JAX and CT State Community College that will bring digital learning resources on cutting edge topics in genetics and genomics into CT State science classes. She also leads high school teacher professional development in bioinformatics, molecular genetics lab skills, and the bioethics of genetics and genomic testing and research. Sarah received her Bachelor of Science degree in Cytogenetics from the University of Connecticut and has her Master of Education in Secondary Science Education from Boston College. She received her Doctorate in Genetics from Harvard University.
