Samson Wambuzi

Co-Founder & Chief Innovation Officer

Samson Wambuzi is a former physics teacher with a Bachelor of Science from Makerere University, a 2019 Obama Africa Leader, a 2021 Collaborative Learning Initiative Fellow with the Issroff Family Foundation, and a 2023 Obama Scholar. He was selected as an MIT Solver in 2020 alongside Yiya cofounder Erin Fitzgerald, and was interviewed by CNN International for an Inside Africa episode on edtech. Samson’s childhood experience shaped Yiya’s mission, and he has a genius talent for educational design and a deep passion to leverage the power of experiential learning to end cycles of poverty endemic in Uganda.

Nimrod Muhanguzi

Senior Program Manager

Nimrod has a strong background in strategic planning, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL), as well as data management. Before joining Yiya, Nimrod worked with the Education Development Center (EDC), an international NGO focused on education, health, and economic development. During his tenure at EDC, he served as the Monitoring & Evaluation Coordinator for the USAID-funded project: Integrated Child And Youth Development Activity. In this role, he was instrumental in developing comprehensive Performance Management Plans (PMPs), meticulously conducting data quality assessments, and seamlessly integrating lessons learned into program development and implementation.

Sharifah Naluswata

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Specialist

Sharifah leverages her expertise as a certified product analyst to effortlessly bridge the gap between Yiya AirScience technology and learner impact. On this project, she brings a diverse skill set, a passion for machine learning and artificial intelligence, and an unwavering commitment to learning from Yiya’s learners in order to make education more accessible and beneficial for them.

Michael Arikosi

Product Specialist

Michael leverages his extensive Software Engineering expertise to drive the continuous development and refinement of the AirScience platform. Holding a Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering from Makerere University, Michael boasts over 4 years of hands-on experience in the software development field. As a highly skilled engineer, Michael takes great pride in his work and remains committed to delivering innovative solutions that elevate the AirScience platform.
